Do you need financial advice or Financial Planning?
In the fifth of Russell’s blogs, he talks about why Blue Sky focus on Comprehensive Financial Planning rather than simply selling financial products.
A blog from Russell Skinner, APFS CFP™ Chartered FCSI (Financial Planning)
Chartered Financial Planner and Managing Director of Blue Sky Financial Planning
The beauty of financial planning, in our eyes, is that it requires a commitment from both parties in the form of time and an initial engagement fee. It is not focused on selling any individual product or package.
We start by evaluating our client’s current situation, their likely future circumstances, and individual relationships with money. Together we then explore the different dynamics between couples and spend time understanding their aspirations for the future and the money required to achieve them.

We will take considerable time to see the world through your eyes. It is essential that we understand each other as much as possible for this to be a fulfilling experience for you.
Change can be daunting but, managed properly, it can be the start of something truly amazing…
Given a healthy respect between both parties, we also like to educate and provide different perspectives. At times, we will also challenge pre-conceived ideas and present alternative ways of progressing when it comes to making a financial plan. We act as a sounding board, mentor, coach… ultimately using our considerable experience to educate and inspire.
It is an adviser’s job to understand what makes you tick.
On occasions, we have had potential clients saying that the financial planning approach is too comprehensive for them and it’s “over egging” what they want. Granted, this service isn’t for everyone, but it’s not unusual when challenging such individuals that we find that some aren’t really as on top of their financial affairs as they believe, despite convincing themselves otherwise. They may have been, once upon a time, but managing one’s money requires frequent attention and understanding of ever-changing legislation and options.
Keeping on top of financial matters is not a one-off exercise. As we have seen very evidently over recent years, all manner of things can change quickly before our eyes. It is therefore important to commit to evaluating one’s plan on a yearly basis at least, for this to remain relevant.
Change is a given.
Ensure your planning is dynamic and adapts accordingly.
At Blue Sky we rarely give any financial advice or guidance if a client hasn’t committed to our Comprehensive Financial Planning offering. We can say with complete confidence that not one client has ever regretted undertaking our financial planning service. The dedicated time we spend with each client and the bespoke solutions we offer, along with our frequent communications, are the main reasons we have built a following of loyal clients who refer regularly and achieve their goals consistently.
